Before proceeding to the rise in popularity of the dark mode, it is important to know that UX stands for User Experience, which will be examined through the lens of the dark mode in this article.
In a pandemic-stricken 2020, some heavy technology users who are prone to long hours of screen have something to cheer about! As technology develops by the day, we are exposed to more and more screen time- whether it be in the shape of cellphones, television, or computer screens- and this is what makes the introduction of the dark mode such an imperative addition to UX (i.e., user experience). And as this poses a potential argument in favor of the dark mode, it is taken further by some medical experts concluding that the eye strain due to heavy digital activity can significantly be reduced through the use of dark mode.

While arguments do exist against the efficiency of the dark mode- it is believed that the visibility of dark text on a white background is much higher than that of lighter text on darker background-, the field is ripe for dark mode to undergo phases of development and improve UX in the coming years. Dark mode seems like the way to go for heavy technology users!
